What is the best course to take as an introduction to Fighting Monkey practice?
Meeting and working with you in a live workshop is an ideal way to begin FM practice, but that is not always possible, as we all know. The other alternative is to join our online courses where we share a great body of research. The beauty of the online courses is that you can study according to your own pace and schedule for 60 days. Recommended online courses for first-timers are the Zero Forms Essentials and Zero Forms Spine. Whatever course of study you choose there’s always space to accommodate your individuality.

Do I need any skills or previous experience to join a FM workshop?
The physical and cognitive tasks we use to practice range from possible to impossible to complete. They nourish youth and the vigor for life, and are therefore truly accessible for everyone from minus nine months to 125 years old. We believe any and all of us can create, play, smile, sweat, and search for what we always wanted to be. Anyone can benefit from encountering new ideas, exchanging with talented people, and living a life worth living.

It is for courageous and curious practitioners who see themselves as poets and educators willing to share and exchange inspiration to engage with life. More details about Mentorship can be found below.

How Do We Learn/ Think/ Develop/Change?
1. By testing values, aesthetic or practical, that are considered certain and beyond debate
2. By decoding, for ourselves, the forms and definitions that are well established in our culture
3. By seeking personal experience and self-reflection over “objective” explanations
4. Through teaching via practical action/play rather than cold, intellectual analysis and fixed learning plans, because theory alone cannot express reality
5. By being encouraged to test and question
6. By playing. It’s all just a game, no need to take ourselves, or our practices, too seriously
7. By harnessing change, rather than fearing it and by recognizing things, ideas, works, and all expressions of life as a state of ceaseless change
